They are of various widths and sizes, and no effort was made to distinguish the sizes in the register. There are a total of 1155 rolls of film in the collection. The collection is divided by flight project into four series: Mariner 10, Voyager, Viking Landers and Viking Orbiters. Mariner 10 (Boxes 1-51). This series includes 579 rolls (287 Master Positives, 233 Duplicate Negatives, 59 unknown). Voyager (Boxes 52-80). This series includes 171 rolls (114 Duplicate Negatives, 57 Duplicate Positives). These were taken from Viking Landers 1 and 2, for the JPL Image Processing Laboratory. Each print is 5" x 10" in dimension, and is bordered by tick marks representing line and sample coordinates. Grey scales are present at both the left and right sides of the image. The date and Image Processing Laboratory picture identification number are also present.
